T Park, Hong Kong's first self-sustained sludge treatment facility announced its opening this week, marking a significant step forward in the city's green journey. “T” stands for Transformation, representing the city’s vision to embrace the concept of “waste-to-energy”, and to drive positive change in the attitudes and behaviours of people towards waste management and resource recovery.

 

Located in Tsang Tsui near Tuen Mun, the award-winning park combines advanced technologies into a single complex. Apart from housing power generation, desalination, educational and ecological facilities, it also brings together sludge incinerators that can treat up to 2,000 tonnes of waste every day. The park generates many folds of ecological benefits to the city, for example, the advanced incineration system can reduce sludge by 90% to minimize landfill loading for the goal of sustainability.

 

T Park welcomes visitors to discover its green features and leisure facilities, including a landscaped garden with five themes, a landscaped garden with five themes, a theatre, a roof garden and a wetland habitat for wildlife. Guided tours can also be arranged upon reservation. One of the highlighted facilities that largely attract public’s attention is the 3 spa pools supported by the heat energy recovered from the sludge incineration process. In this rare yet prefect place, your eyes will be feasted with the seamless sea view of Deep Bay under the ambient and cool temperatures. The spa pools will surely will the hottest destination for relaxation and refreshment. The spa pools will be opened to public from 29 June onwards.
