Bamboo Theatre

Bamboo Theatre is a temporary building made by bamboo and zinc plate. This building is unique in Southern China to perform Cantonese Opera during celebration of Taoist festivals. The technique and the style of building can be chased back from Song Dynasty (962-1279). Until the modern world, it becomes a platform to succeed the tradition of Taoist and Cantonese Opera.

The West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre

The function is with an amazing line-up for you and your family! While star-studded Cantonese opera shows are the main attractions, the 3-week event will also parade a series of free programmes including Cantonese opera performances by young talents, Chinese dance by the Hong Kong Dance Company, contemporary music concerts, and a Bamboo Theatre Fair to take you down memory lane. The long-anticipated winning Xiqu Centre design model will also be unveiled for the first time at its future home. Please join us to celebrate the Chinese New Year with artistic charm and inspiration at the West Kowloon Cultural District – a place for everyone!
